The History of Polish Pottery!
Having first made its appearance millennia ago, the craft of pottery has flourished
throughout history. As civilizations developed, so did the variety and quality of
pottery as it eventually split into the three major categories of earthenware,
stoneware, and porcelain. In fact, potters made many of these products so durable
that those same vessels shaped millennia ago are preserved virtually unchanged
today.
Our Empire line is classified as stoneware, a very hard product shaped from
opaque, white clay of the highest quality. Located in Boleslawiec, Poland, our
unique factories specialize in the authentic traditionally glazed, coloured, and
stamped stoneware. All products are handmade and based on customary
practices. Historically, some of the most famous, original designs included those
commissioned by renowned Frederick the Great, King of Prussia, in the 18th
Century.
All our wares are oven, microwave, dishwasher, and freezer safe because the
artists carefully select their clays and bake them at the searing temperature of
1,230 degrees Celsius (2,246 degrees Fahrenheit). As with all stoneware, however,
one should avoid sudden, extreme changes in temperature. Furthermore, the
artisans coat all coloured patterns with a transparent, protective glaze in order to
prevent rubbing, wearing, and food from sticking. The exceptional colours are
chosen according to Polish custom and include a unique, vibrant mix of cobalt
blues, cuprous greens, and ferrous, reddish browns that encourage liberal mixing
and matching with other patterns. The stoneware is neither radioactive nor does it
contain cadmium or lead.
You can utilise these beautiful and durable wares for years and years while
capitalising on their multiple functions as cooking and dining instruments as well
as decorative art. We cannot stress enough that theses items are not crafted to
merely sit in a curio cabinet and look nice; rather, they are fashioned for both
attractiveness and constant use. As we have striven to provide you with heirloom
quality stoneware, we have made a maximum effort to reduce prices by minimising
our overhead costs and passing on the savings to you—thus offering a great
value in your investment. Take advantage of this unique opportunity to own the
finest of the Old World today!
